She chose this route clearly knowing she might not return and also if this choice breaks her heart. She tried to ask him not to break his engagement with Lady Rossi (Marcello doesn’t love Lady Rossi, the marriage is just for the sake of politics) since she, herself have to leave for the future again and might not return. The romance in this book is not so bad considering the “kind-of” good ending….I like how Gabi handle Marcello at the end. It seemed to me like too much of a coincidence cause they needed those skills to survive in the past more than the present, but then who cares, since it’s such a good story. It’s kinda amazing that she can play sword (due to fencing classes) and know some medical skill while her sister, Lia, is skilled in archery. I was smiling the whole time I was reading the book, I love the interactions Gabi had or the monologue in Gabi’s mind while she is in the past.

I have always love any historical romance but this story is a blend of modern and history which made it even better. I love how a modern girl somehow travel through time with her sister to the past, to a very old era Italy. Suddenly Gabi’s summer in Italy is much, much more interesting. And worse yet, in the middle of a fierce battle between knights of two opposing forces. Stuck among the rubble of the medieval castles in rural Tuscany, on yet another hot, dusty archaeological site, Gabi and Lia are bored out of their minds…until Gabi places her hand atop a handprint in an ancient tomb and finds herself in fourteenth-century Italy. Most American teenagers want a vacation in Italy, but the Betarrini sisters have spent every summer of their lives among the romantic hills with their archaelogist parents.
